Kyle Larson's eventful day in California wasn't over when he left the race track.
Larson?s No. 42 Target Chevrolet barely had a scratch on it as the driver sailed off to his first Monster Energy Cup Series win of 2017.
His rental car wasn?t so lucky.
Larson, 24, was involved in a wreck as he was leaving Auto Club Speedway on Sunday night. According to a Ganassi Racing representative, Larson was involved in "a minor fender bender leaving the track". He was not behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
Larson is in his fifth season with CGR. He?s having a breakout year with one win, one pole and four top-five finishes. Larson is also enjoying a remarkable 3.8 average finish for 2017. Larson also leads the Monster Energy Cup standings. He has a 29-point lead over Chase Elliott.
The Elk Grove, California native is scheduled to return home this week to race with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway.
