Jeff Gordon will step away from his Fox Sports broadcasting duties and become vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, sources tell The Athletic. An announcement is scheduled to take place within the hour.
Gordon, a four-time NASCAR champion and Hall of Famer, has been involved with Hendrick throughout his six-year broadcasting career. He drove for the team and has been a part-owner since his racing days, but has increasingly taken on a larger role.
Now he'll leave the TV booth to focus solely on Hendrick, which is currently NASCAR's top team with six straight wins (including the All-Star Race) and won last year's Cup Series championship.
